Every 5 seconds, carbon monoxide levels detected are measured and recorded by an electrochemical sensor. When an alarm threshold of 25ppm or more is reached, the CO level detected is displayed, backlight is lit, red LED flashes, and 85dB audible alarm is sounded. An evacuation alarm is activated at 200ppm.

The highest CO level detected between 10 and 200 ppm, the time duration for the peak level and how long ago it occurred, can be manually displayed by pressing the Memory Recall button.
